Established by artist/archivist Elizabeth Lovins, the Hollywood Art Center Archive is dedicated to the history, documentation and presentation of the Hollywood Art Center School (1912-2000), its founders Henry and Mona Lue Lovins, and its associated artists.

While the holdings of the HACS archive can assist in producing new knowledge about the history and culture of Southern Calfornia, more importantly, the archive represents a tool for inquiry into the contemporary and imaginary place of Hollywood and an influential art colony once existing in its environs.

Additionally, materials assist in the building of stories relating to the history of the 1915 Exposition, the New York School of Fine Art, USC Roski School of Art and Design, Denver School of Fine Art, 1893 Chicago World's Fair, 1898 Paris Exposition, American and California Impressionism, Southwest Museum, Yosemite's Awahnee Hotel, Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale,  Pig n' Whistle, Egyptian Theater, Whitley Heights Country Club and more.
